I moved to London in January 1990...and the world as I knew it changed in an instant...everything that I thought was cool in music and fashion was sooooooooooooo passe...and I began upon a new social observation...each sub culture was so much more rigid in its ways and less like the blended tendencies of Sydney and Brisbane...One had to stick to a genre and stay there...one had to stick to a suburb( area) and stay there..You had to walk a certain way...talk a certain way ...listen to a certain mini genre of music...and definately dress a certain way...freedom of expression ...sure...but with rules...Thankfully I was a visitor,a tourist,a passer-by so I could get away with mixing things up ..or "tings"if said by my Jamaican/Birmingham friend who "always had my back"...anyway..one outfit that got me through most adventures was a combination of warmth ...comfort and what was happening at the time...A bomber jacket, black leggings worn as pants...(yes..its true)...some kind of black top,Nike or Fila trainers..hightop of course...some kind of bling...fake..and a hat...sometimes...
